Custom Treated Silver Metallic Writing Desk

I know, I know.  This doesn't exactly fit the bill of my normal creations.  I just wanted to show off the great results with Modern Masters metallic paints.  This particular color was "Silver", of course.

You can find out more about them (HERE).  I was very happy with the way to silver paint turned out on this older desk.

I used some Annie Sloan dark wax to give it a little more aged look.  I resisted scuffing up any corners, features, etc.

And below is the antique mirror I partnered with it in one of my booths.  I gave it the same treatment as the desk.

You can find my creations in the GadgetSponge Etsy Shop, at Timeline Antiques in Shreveport, LA and C & C Electric Co. in Shreveport, LA!  This specific desk can be viewed at Timeline Antiques.

Vintage Shreveport Map Laden Coffee Table w/ Custom Finish & Distressing

This table has been a long work in progress.  I spent a lot of time on the custom distressed colors and finish.  It has two layers of different chalk paint and then a lot of time distressing it back down to the look I was trying to achieve.

And THEN after all that, I had to work with this very unruly vintage Shreveport wall map.  Haha!

It took a lot of taming to get this bad boy to finally lay down for good.  But it all worked out in the end.  The "Cross Lake" body of water and the general tone of the rest of the map background were the inspiration for the colors I choose to finish the coffee table in.

The table measures 48" long and 26" wide with a height of 19.5".  It's super solid and will last a lifetime.  It was finished in polyurethane so it can take lots of abuse over all of its future years.

Elegant Repurposed Bird Feeder or Valet or Change Tray or Mail Tray or...

What "can't" this new GadgetSponge repurpose creation be!?!

If you know anything about GadgetSponge creations, you know that most of my custom pieces usually end up "for the birds."  But this one could actually serve more purposes inside the home and out.  And with all that beautiful silverplate, brass and more, it would take on less tarnishing inside.

How about a fancy destination like this for loose change and all that other stuff from your pockets?  How about a beautiful place to hold your mail, bills or any other correspondence?  The options are endless.

But, as always, the birds will be just as happy to use this creation as a much needed destination for winter food.  With a wide lip and some great vintage faucet handles for perches, who could complain!

Any other ideas out there on what this latest custom GadgetSponge creation could be???

If you would like to share pics of your GadgetSponge creations in your home or backyard, be sure to send me some pics!  Please make sure they are of the higher resolution when sending.
