Alvin Space Heater Double Fly-Through Bird Feeder

I LOVE running across these old little space heaters.  I've only had the chance to do one other Alvin brand space heater.  They have great structures.

I decided to make this one function with a feeding platform on both sides and also inside.  Each platform has small holes for rainwater to drain.

I cut a vintage silverplate tray in half to make each platform and used some brass handles from an old casserole tray.  Copper wire supports the platforms that are soldered on.  I then cut in half a small brass tray to serve as awnings on both sides.  Another silverplate bowl was cut up in segments for the adornment on top of the awnings.

I added some metal came (stained glass supplies) on the edges of the cutouts/openings to jazz it up a bit.  I stamped the word "FLY" onto copper metal pieces and soldered them to both sides.  Vintage silverplate spoon parts sit above those.

I cut away the bottom sides of the center housing so that tossed seed could fall out and not get stuck in the corners and get old.  I foresee this being a popular destination for birds in the prospective owner's yard!

Double Deco Duplex - Twin Canister Modern Storage Birdhouse Art Piece

The latest decorative birdhouse has emerged from the garage.  Had a blast creating this one.  I've had this electric burner base for a while now.  It was actually sitting out in the yard for a couple of months.  I cleaned it up and paired it up with a couple of vintage chrome kitchen canisters.  From there I knew I wanted to go Art Deco (ish) with the style of this piece.  A part from a vintage typewriter provided the "awning".  A car emblem, some chrome bathroom faucet handles, napkin rings, silverplate pie server and much more complete this one.  This birdhouse piece can be used for storage with the original removable tops!

Propeller & License Plate Bird Feeder

Howdy folks!  This is only my second "square" license plate bird feeder that I've done.  The first one I kept for myself (and my birds).   It's actually pretty laborious getting the cramped folds just right and soldered.

This old license plate has a great color to it like much of the old Illinois plates.  A modified small copper plate serves as the roof.  Some fan blades from an antique electric fan sit a top.  I fabricated a screw-on top to hold everything together with an old bathroom faucet handle.  That way it's really easy to refill the feeder.

The birds can each out of the covered hole or as is slowly releases out of the bottom onto the porcelain enamel plate that is bordered with used dog tags.

Repurposed Tackle Fishing Box Bird Feeder

The fish might not be biting but the birds can all day long at this custom bird feeder.

The front basket (a vintage vanity holder) can hold fruit or suet!

And this bird feeder can fold up if you want it out of the way for a while.

Repurposed Scale Storage Bowl

Maybe you could display fruit, maybe candy, or just a place to collect your pocket change and keys!

A great, vintage blue swirl porcelain/enamel bowl is the crowing component to this creation.  The old scale holds its own too!  The wheels on the side of the scale came from an vintage "Rodeo Joe" tin toy that was busted up.  The wooden base is a large door plinth.  Chalk paint gave the old stain some life to bring out the blues.  The bowl is soldered to the scale top which still moves up and down.
