Retro Tall Kitchen Coffee Pot Birdhouse
Here's one of the most recent birdhouses I've created. I came across this great retro/vintage coffee pot and went to town doing a good bit of custom painting and upcycling several old parts.
You can find it in my Etsy shop (HERE).
You can see more pics of this birdhouse along with my other projects in the (PHOTO GALLERY).
I ran across this vintage coffee pot and knew it would make a great birdhouse. I started by cutting the birdhole and using a silverplate napkin ring as the awning. I then used part of a fan piece from an antique, ornate brass fire screen on the top/front side. A piece of an old vegetable steamer fin was painted red and mounted there also. I then dismantled the base and the top lid and custom painted the pieces red. Then put all the pieces and the metal badging pieces back on. I painted an old drawer knob red to match everything else. For a final nice touch, I cut out a side from an antique coffee tin ("Franklin's Famous Java Coffee") and roughed it up and mounted it on the back of the coffee pot. The top lid can be removed by unscrewing a bolt in the back to clean out the nests each year if it is used outside.
