Stunned House Sparrow
Before you feel really sad when glimpsing at the first photo, there is a happy ending.
A little while back, a female House Sparrow ran into one of our windows. I've heard this sound before over the years so I go to check immediately. Most birds are okay and fly away. This is the second time over the years that I've had a "stunned" sparrow. I picked her up and felt a heartbeat so I figured things would be okay after a little while. She kept her eyes closed for a good ten minutes and then began to come to slowly. Her eyes would open and then slowly close again while staying still.
After a bit, I turned her upright and let her sit for a bit as she collected herself. Her legs weren't very active yet but she would flinch a little when slightly raising my hand up or down. During the whole while, I had the great experience of seeing a bird up close and gettting to exam it.
